Townwide Clean Up Day
April 23, 2011
Needham celebrates Earth Day by helping prepare the town for its 300th birthday. On April 23 the Needham300 committee is organizing a town wide clean up day. People can sign up individually or as a group. Volunteers will spread out over town to pick up trash in several public open spaces.
Volunteers are asked to gather at the Newman School at 8:30 a.m. for coffee and donuts.
Once there they will be given yellow trash bags and assigned to open areas around town. When the trash is cleaned up the bags can be left at each individual site where town workers will come pick them up.
Residents are encouraged to gather groups of people to help with this event. Hundreds of volunteers will be needed to cover all the sites in town that the beautification committee has identified to be in need of a clean up.
Send an e-mail to the 300 Committee or contact Joe Quinnan at 781-929-0121 if you plan to participate. Volunteers can just show up that day, too, though it would be helpful for the organizers to know how many people will be there.
