The Next Ten Years — What Bold Climate Action Means for Us
May 4, 2021 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
Heeding the dire warnings of climate scientists, the Massachusetts legislature recently set ambitious goals for a 50% reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by 2030, on the way to reaching net zero emissions by 2050. Why are the next ten years so important? On Tuesday, May 4 at 7:30 pm. First Parish in Needham, with Green Needham as cosponsor, will host a Zoom presentation on The Next Ten Years: What Bold Climate Action Means for Us. As part of its Lane Lyceum Tuesday Night Speaker Series, First Parish has invited Larry Chretien, executive director of the Green Energy Consumers Alliance, and Kai Salem, the organization’s Policy Coordinator, to help us envision the changes necessary to meet the State’s emissions reduction targets. How will the new Massachusetts Climate Roadmap bill help make an environmentally just transition away from fossil fuels? What might this unprecedented pace of change mean for our everyday lives, and how can we help? Find the Zoom link here.
