On Tuesday September 19th, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. the Joint Committee on Telecommunications, Utilities and Energy (TUE) will hold a hearing at the Massachusetts State House on bills related to the Renewable Portfolio Standard.

On that day residents from all over Massachusetts will converge on Beacon Hill to fight to increase the Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS). A new report  finds that increasing the Massachusetts RPS by 3 percent per year will allow the state to fully realize the benefits of new clean energy demand and lower wholesale electricity prices. This policy would enhance the economic vitality, competitiveness, and growth of our state.

Mass Power Forward, a state-wide coalition of environmental and community groups, businesses, faith groups, and energy advocates, is supporting the 3% yearly increase.

Green Needham has joined 21 other organizations in supporting an increase.
