MCAN Steering Committee – Grassroots Funding Opportunities
May 25, 2010 @ 7:30 pm - 9:15 pm
The next MCAN Steering Committee Meeting will be held in Cambridge on Tuesday, May 25 from 7:30 to 9:15 p.m. This event is being Co-Sponsored by Green Decade/Cambridge
Meet Cheryl King Fisher, Executive Director, New England Grassroots Environmental Fund (NEGEF).
Learn more about grassroots funding opportunities for your chapter or group from one of New England’s premiere funders! Don’t miss this chance!
In 1996 Cheryl King Fisher helped found NEGEF which seeks to energize and nurture long term civic engagement in local initiatives that create and maintain healthy, just, safe and environmentally sustainable communities. The Fund uses grant-making, networking and skills-building to fuel local activism and social change. A NEGEF GRANT PLAYED AN IMPORTANT ROLE IN THE INITIAL GROWTH OF MCAN and has helped a number of our MCAN community efforts! Cheryl holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Hollins College and a Master of Science degree in Resource Economics for the University of Vermont but most likes to describe herself as a community activist and change maker.
Other brief speakers will include:
- Rob Garrity, MCAN executive director with a legislative update
- Marla Marcum, Leadership Campaign, “Climate Summer” in Massachusetts with a student activities update
- Rouwenna Lamm of ACE, a national nonprofit dedicated to educating America’s high school students about the science behind climate change and inspiring them to do something about it.
The meeting will be held at the Cambridge Senior Center located at 806 Mass. Ave. in Cambridge just across the street from City Hall. The Senior Center is located two blocks west of Central Square MBTA mass-transit Red Line station.
MCAN Chapter members are welcome to attend.
