There will be a question and answer period at the end of the presentation.

Join us for an eye-opening conversation about the world of plastic, including how it’s manufactured and why production has recently increased. We will discuss the challenges of recycling plastic and explore the harmful effects of plastic pollution on our environment and human health. The talk will include simple ways for the citizens of Needham to take an active role in reducing plastic production and consumption. Our speaker, Kathy Raiz, from the Beyond Plastic’s Speaker’s Bureau and Green Needham’s Plastic Waste Reduction Team, is excited to chat with you about how to make our community more sustainable.
About the Presenter Kathy Raiz
Kathy has been a member of the Beyond Plastics Speaker’s Bureau from its inception in 2021. Since attending Judith Enck’s class on plastic pollution, she has become eager to educate people about the negative impact that plastic has on the environment and personal health, while encouraging citizens to take an active role in reducing plastic production and consumption. She is a member of Green Needham’s Plastic Reduction Team and is currently working to pass a plastic bag ban bylaw in the town.
Kathy has a BS from Tufts University and a MS in Human Resources Development from Villanova University. She works with various non-profit organizations as an HR Consultant. She lives in Needham, MA with her husband and their two daughters. Kathy also enjoys teaching piano lessons and participating in community theater productions.
