The stimulus-funded Massachusetts appliance rebate program will have an even shorter window than anticipated – two weeks. As outlined in our early February post, the program provides a needed incentive to consumers, but the funding would easily be exhausted within a month with even average demand. Between Earth Day, April 22nd and May 5th, Massachusetts consumers will be able to earn rebates between $50 and $250 for purchasing certain energy efficient appliances.
As previously described, the program, dubbed the “Great Appliance Exchange”, will
- be limited to certain appliance types (expected to include refrigerators, freezers, clothes washers and dishwashers)
- require consumers to turn in the appliances being replaced
The list of qualifying appliances and participating retailers will be posted on the program’s website at http://www.masssave.com/gax on March 22nd.
