The Hillside School’s Buddy Water Project, whose 2010 efforts were featured in this Green Needham blog post, has been recognized with an award for Excellence in Energy and Environment Education by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Richard K. Sullivan, Secretary, Energy and Environmental Affairs presented the 17th Annual Secretary’s Awards for Excellence in Energy and Environmental Education, at a ceremony at the Great Hall of the Massachusetts State House on Monday, May 2nd. Hillside’s Buddy Water projected was presented a “First Honors for Excellence in Energy and Environmental Education” award.
The 2011 awards are sponsored by the commonwealth of Massachusetts in partnership with the Mass Environmental Trust. They honor the efforts of the Commonwealth’s school systems and community partners who foster their students’ energy and environmental awareness.
Hillside School was represented by George Goneconto, Amy Cicala, Michael Kascak, parents, and their entire 2nd and 4th grade classes. Denise Garlick, Needham State Representative, was on-hand to congratulate the award winners on this momentous day for the Hillside students.
