Needham Residents,
Do you cook with natural gas in your residence? If so, you may be able to participate in a study about air quality, climate change, housing and health.
Mothers Out Front is supporting the Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health in recruiting Needham residents for an air quality and climate change study focusing on natural gas use in the home. The purpose of the study is to learn more about natural gas leaks in the home and also what chemicals may be present in natural gas.
Participation in this portion of the study entails two home visits from the two-person research team. The first visit will be scheduled for this Monday 2/17 between 10am and 4pm, or another day next week and will take about an hour. The second visit will happen next summer and will only take about 15 minutes.
If you take part in the study, the research team will ask you to:
- Answer questions about your home
- Allow the team to sample air in your home
- Allow the team to sample natural gas from your kitchen stovetop
- Allow the team to photograph your electrical panel
- Consider sharing your utility bills to help assess energy use
As a participant, you will receive information on the possibility of natural gas leaks in your home and whether any hazardous chemicals may be present in the natural gas piped into your home.
