Thanks to the community’s enthusiastic response and your generous contributions, the Avery Field project is moving forward. Volunteers from Needham’s garden clubs worked with the Town’s Parks & Forestry staff to design a layout for the area around the stone. Parks & Forestry have excavated and prepared the area for plantings. Three trees have been planted immediately behind the stone. The new plaque has been ordered and received.
Some spring-flowering bulbs will be planted this fall. The other plantings will be done in the early spring. The installation of the new plaque and a community event to celebrate the project will take place shortly afterward.
