Two climate events are coming up in the week of March 7, 2022.

On March 9th at 7:30 p.m., Green Needham is pleased to join Temple Beth Shalom’s Environmental Action Committee to host a Zoom meeting with Derek Walter, the Environmental Defense Fund’s U.S. Climate Program Director. Derek will provide an update about the EDF’s bold and comprehensive Climate Action Plan. Please join us by registering here.

Since its founding in 1967, the Environmental Defense Fund has grown to be one of the most effective and most respected environmental organizations in the United States. The EDF’s Climate Action Plan to stabilize the global climate focuses on the highest impact opportunities: the biggest emitting industrial sectors — energy, transportation and land use; and the highest emitting regions — the United States, European Union, India, China and Brazil.

On March 11, church bells in Needham will ring!

At 11 a.m. on the 11th day of March (Friday), First Parish in Needham and the Congregational Church of Needham will join other Massachusetts houses of worship in ringing their bells to remind people that it is the “eleventh hour” in the battle against climate change. As the bells ring, congregants and others concerned about climate change will stand outside with signs highlighting the need for bold action to address the climate crisis.

The organizers are inviting anyone concerned about climate change to join them or to participate at their own house of worship. The event will be repeated on Monday, April 11 and possibly beyond. First Parish in Needham is located at 23 Dedham Ave. and the Congregational Church in Needham is located at 1154 Great Plain Ave. Contact Eleanor Rosellini efrosell@aol.com for more information.

Ideas for actions that individuals can take to address the climate crisis will appear on the GreenNeedham home page.
