Green Needham Collaborative’s Home Energy Savings Team (“HEST”) looks at possible ways in which Needham homeowners can reduce their fossil fuel use while increasing their use of renewable energy. HEST wants to help everyone lower their carbon footprint and save money.
HEST is actively exploring ideas and projects for the upcoming year. At the Harvest Fair on Needham Common on Saturday, September 27, 2014 from 10 to 3, Green Needham will have a table, so come by and chat with us about home energy savings. There, and at Needham events throughout the year, we will be asking folks if they have had a no-cost Mass Save home energy audit, and providing information about and signing them up for this important program. On Monday, October 27, 2017 at 7 p.m. at the Needham Public Library, Green Needham and the
League of Women Voters are co-sponsoring a presentation entitled “Climate Reality Project” which will inform and bring us up-to-date on the science behind climate change and what can be done to address it. After the presentation, HEST is planning to have tables featuring various home energy savings topics. Finally, HEST will be exploring community solar options, in which folks for whom solar panels on their home is not an option can derive some of their energy from a solar project — we are looking for ways to educate our community on this topic.
If HEST’s mission and desire to promote home energy savings interests you, please consider becoming involved and help us out. The projects and ideas listed above need volunteers to help make them a reality!
