Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley will be the keynote speaker at the Newton-Needham Chamber’s Green Business Awards Breakfast on Wednesday June 26 in Newton.

The Green Business Awards Breakfast will honor local businesses for their environmental achievements, and will be held outdoors, along the banks of the Charles River, adjacent to the Newton-Marriott Hotel.

Attorney General Coakley will discuss the challenges and the opportunities facing businesses in the Commonwealth in the 21st century. She will offer reflections from her upcoming energy summit on how costs impact businesses’ ability to be competitive and energy efficient and the successes and challenges they have experienced.

Also speaking that morning will be:

  • Mark Buckley, Vice President of Environmental Affairs at Staples
  • Bob Zimmerman of Charles River Watershed Association
  • Newton Mayor Setti Warren

The Green Business Breakfast brings together local businesses, energy and environmental experts, and policy makers to discuss the challenges and opportunities related to preserving and protecting our environment.

Green Needham Chair Michael Greis is a member of the Chamber’s Environment Committee, which will recognize businesses from both Newton and Needham that have taken a leadership role in reducing energy and incorporating sustainable environmental practices and strategies in their businesses.
