Don’t miss the League of Women Voters’ Green Energy Tour on Saturday, June 11 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. You can visit homes right here in Needham that feature the newest clean energy technology. Find out how one family produces electricity every time they turn on their heat, or how another has a system that extracts heat from 55-degree underground water.
The six homes include examples of solar electricity, solar hot water/heat, co-generation of heat and electricity, geothermal heat and cooling, radiant floor heating, older home weatherization retrofit, and sustainable yard.
Participants should come to the Webster Street entrance of the high school between 10:00 a.m. 12:30 p.m. to pick up maps or buy tickets. They can decide which homes they would like to visit. At each site, homeowners and possibly installers will be on hand to answer questions and explain their systems.
Advance tickets are available for $5.99 from www.BrownPaperTickets.com (search “Needham”) or for $7.00 at the door on the day of the event. Children 18 and under are free.
