The Olin College of Engineering library has received a $5,000 grant to develop sustainability collections and programming in the areas of energy audits and native plants. As part of the community outreach for this grant, the library will be working with Green Needham on programming and educational initiatives.

A native plants seminar that will feature a speaker from the New England Wildflower Society is expected in March. Included in the seminar will be resources from the Needham Historical Society as well as native plants available for sale.

An energy audit seminar in April will focus on checklists for homeowners and small business owners as well as the tools that can be used to begin an audit. Many of the state and federal incentives that are available for energy efficiency improvements will be highlighted.

Other projects will include educational initiatives with the public schools as well as joint collection development with the Needham Public Library. Questions, comments or ideas can be sent to Dee Magnoni, Olin College Library Director, dianna.magnoni@olin.edu.

The grant is an award of the Library Services and Technology Act from the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.
