An opportunity to hear about local initiatives to promote access to locally grown produce, and to expand farm-based educational programs in the community.
The Needham Community Farm will speak about our educational initiative at the elementary schools, the expansion of gardens, and possibilities of an Olin partnership. Other local farm representatives will be there to talk about their programs.
There will also be a viewing of the documentary film “Eating Local in Somerville.” Somerville has very successfully incorporated both farm-based education and farm-to-cafeteria programs into their schools. A representative from Somerville’s program will be present to talk more about their initiatives.
The evening will end with a discussion of how Somerville’s best practices could be duplicated in Needham.
Needham Community Farm is co-sponsoring this event with Green Needham Collaborative and First Parish Church
